Susan Murray, National Director of Development at Year Up

"Fundraising and Effectively Leading Teams Through Change"

We're delighted to welcome Susan Murray, National Director of Development at Year Up, as our Keynote Speaker at WID's Spring Annual Meeting Breakfast on Friday, June 9th! Join us at the Westin Copley Place as we begin our morning with networking over breakfast beginning at 8:30am followed by our program which will begin at 9:30am. We look forward to spending our morning with you!

Susan Murray has been with Year Up for over 12 years.  While she currently lives in Brooklyn, she is originally from Boston and still has roots here. As a fundraiser and executive leader, Susan will share her insights on managing diverse teams through change.  She will speak to both leading a team and fundraising, through the pandemic and organizational transition.  Susan will also share her strategies and lessons learned as a fundraiser, offering tangible tactics and donor meeting prep tips!

Susan Murray

Susan leads Year Up’s fundraising efforts and serves as an officer of the company and a member of the executive team. She is responsible for creating and executing a strategy to secure the philanthropic resources needed to sustain and grow Year Up nationwide. She joined Year Up in February 2011, first as Senior Philanthropic Advisor. During her time at Year Up, the organization has grown from raising $20 million annually to raising more than $90 million annually. The team has raised more than $790 million in philanthropy 2011 – 2022, connecting nearly 40,000 young adults to professional opportunity. Prior to Year Up, Susan raised capital for the University of Pennsylvania, served as a Director of the Columbia University College Fund, and was part of the NYC2012 team that led New York’s bid to host the 2012 Olympics. She co-founded a youth lacrosse program in Brooklyn and has served on the Domestic Violence Project board. Susan earned her BA from the University of Rochester and her MPA from Columbia University. She is a mom to 3 daughters and lives in Brooklyn with her family.
